Daisy Troop 881 Earns “Respect Authority” Petal

BRE Daisy Troop 881 earned their “Respect Authority” Petal on March 14. Public Educator from South Metro Fire Rescue, Amy Teddy, visited with the girls to discuss the importance of fire safety. Teddy discussed the importance of “Get Out and Stay Out” by practicing fire drills at home and identifying a safe meeting place. She also talked with the girls about fire safety, including staying away from matches, lighters and anything hot, such as stoves and irons.

In addition to fire safety, Teddy and Daisy troop leader Lara Lane discussed the importance of respecting authority figures, such as firefighters, police officers and doctors. The girls learned to call 911 in emergency situations but never for non-emergency reasons. “It’s okay to talk with firemen if you see them at the grocery store or at the park, but you should never call them to say hello. Calling only for emergencies ensures they will be available to assist those who are really in need,” said Teddy.

Congratulations to Troop 881 - Maggie, Courtney, Mara, Grace, Rachel, Molly, Avalon, Caroline, Amanda, Ciara, Kaitlin, Aubrey, Audrey, Saylor, Kyra and Ashley - for earning this very important petal!
