PostNet

If you need a package shipped, he’ll ship it. If you need something copied, he’ll copy it.  If you need a passport, he’ll take the photo. If you need a dollar, he may even lend it to you. He is Steve Williams, and he is the owner of PostNet, located in the King Soopers shopping center.

PostNet is a store that offers shipping (USPS, FedEx, and UPS), freighting, copying, business and packaging supplies, greeting cards, U-Haul rentals, and more.

Steve’s motto is, “Anything you think I can do, I can do.”  And, his CPN PostNet business has been very successful since he purchased it from bankrupt owners last January.

“I own a PostNet in Ken Caryl and I wanted to purchase one in Parker, but the opportunity to own the one in CPN was too good to pass up, so I decided to go for it,” says Williams.

His lifestyle as a co-owner (along with his wife, Tamara) of two PostNets is a stark contrast to the interesting experiences and professions he’s had in his past.

Steve grew up in Germany, where his father was stationed in the military.  He discovered he was a good basketball player and attended Portland State University on a scholarship.  From college, he played for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers for one year.  However, an ankle injury kept him from being re-signed.  His basketball career continued for two more years as he played for a professional team in Belgium.

“After that, in 1977, I had a friend who convinced me to return to the United States and join the army.  Because I spoke fluent German, I was sent to East Germany as a U.S. spy,” says Steve. “Unfortunately, four of us were in a helicopter crash and I was the only one to survive.  I still don’t know how I got out of that situation alive.”

Since the helicopter accident, Steve was in two additional near-fatal car accidents.  “I don’t know why, but I’m a survivor,” says Steve.

“You’re not going to believe this, but last April my house burned down two days before my wedding!” exclaims Steve.

Steve’s life seems to be calmer now.  He’s focusing on his PostNet stores and enjoys getting to know his customers - - as do his two Chocolate Labs, Chante and Ginger, who enjoy visiting the stores.

“I try to be at each of my stores as much as possible, but ...if I’m not in my CPN store, Andy Szeremy, the store’s manager, will take care of you,“ says Steve.

More information on PostNet, as well as coupons for the store, are located at www.postnet.com.
