Big O Tires in Castle Pines North (CPN) brings new meaning to the phrase “locally owned and operated.” Owner J McElroy and his wife Robyn have been residents of Hidden Pointe since 2000. In August 2007, McElroy purchased the Big O franchise store in CPN, which originally opened for business in 2003 under different ownership.

“We are unique because we are family owned and run,” said McElroy. “I have one partner in this, and that is my wife Robyn,” he continued. She is transitioning from her current job into a full-time position at the store, and their teenage son Jake works there too, with aspirations to take over the business someday.

According to McElroy, Big O offers far more than just tires and an occasional oil change. It performs system flushes (cooling, steering, transmission, and brakes), alignments, brake replacements, suspension work, shock and strut replacements, scheduled maintenance service, and a host of other services.

New to the store since August, Big O Tires now installs lift kits, gears, lockers, bumpers, and winches, which all seem appropriate because McElroy and his son are huge 4x4 enthusiasts, with everyone in the family owning a Jeep.

McElroy hopes to continue to grow the business and become more involved in the community. During the time of our interview, one of his employees jumped in his car with a crowbar and some tools enroute to help one of their regular customers who had called in with a flat tire a few miles away – at no charge to the customer.

“We try to take care of our customers. We want them to be able to count on us,” said McElroy.

Big O Tires is located at 508 East Castle Pines Parkway, directly behind Castle Rock Bank. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sundays. They can be reached at 720-733-1707.
