The Rueter-Hess Reservoir lies east of the I-25 interchange and north of Castle Pines North.  The entire reservoir site will encompass 2,400 acres of land.  This is larger than all of CPN.  The actual reservoir will have a larger surface area than Cherry Creek Reservoir.  When complete there will be open space and trails on the CPN side of the reservoir, and active recreation on the side closest to Parker.  Completion is planned in 2010.  To ensure a renewable water source, CPN joined the project in the spring of 2000.
